The Tugger Saver is a weak link between the winch hook and its parking position. If Tugger wire is caught up in topdrive without being discovered, and the driller lowers or hoists the top drive, the tugger saver will break when the load overcomes the working load limit on the winch.

This will save the winch, wire, hook, sheaves and equipment for overloading and damages.
